Eric Roush, OD
Dr. Roush joined the Eye Care & Eye Wear Center of Maine in August 2005. He is a third-generation optometrist, following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and uncle. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology in 1998 from Indiana University and his Optometry degree in 2002 from the Indiana University School of Optometry.
Dr. Roush specializes in the management of dry eye disease, diabetic eye care, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He is an experienced prescriber of all types of contact lenses including complex contact lens fitting for astigmatism, near vision problems (bifocal contacts), and dry eyes.
Dr. Roush has a unique interest and expertise in “myopia control” techniques to significantly slow the rate of nearsighted progression in children and young adults. These techniques reduce a person’s eventual nearsighted prescription by up to seventy percent.
He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Maine Optometric Association. He is licensed by the Maine Board of Optometry for Therapeutic Advanced Glaucoma Authority, which is the highest level of licensure offered by the state. He lives in Portland with his wife and two children.
